FRAMED FLOWERS

Lady Hayes May 25, 2015

Hello my lovelies! If you're anything like me you have tonnes of empty frames kicking around just waiting for that perfect picture. Alas! Wait no longer. This is a super easy DIY that will make your pretty frames even prettier. My main squeeze bought me some flowers a few weeks ago and they were just too darn pretty to watch die, so I squished them to death in a book. What a meanie! ha! All in the name of the art, right?

What you need | A variety of your favourite flowers, parchment paper, glue gun, a heavy book, a few frames, white paper, pen and scissors

STEP 1

Trim the flowers leaving a short stem. Leaves and petals are nice to have as well. I prefer to cut them with they are still reasonably fresh.  Place a piece of parchment paper on the book and lay the flowers on top. Arrange the flowers trying not to have them touch too much. Then place another piece of parchment paper on top. Squish book closed and place something heavy on top. Leave for a couple of weeks.

STEP 2

Give your frames a good clean. I like to use white vinegar on the glass-its natural. Now take your white paper. I used a thicker piece from an old sketch book. This is what we will glue the flowers to. First we need to size the paper. Place the glass on top of the paper and trace around the outside with a pen-then cut out. Easy peasy so far right?

STEP 3

Take your beautiful dried flowers and start to play with different arrangements. Have fun! Once you have your arrangement sorted glue those puppies down. Just a couple of dabs should do the trick. Don't be afraid to commit. Just do it :) Now insert your beautiful new art piece into the frame. Seriously, its so easy and so pretty.

Don't forget to tag #ladyhayesdiy so I can see your beautiful masterpieces!

xo muah!

HOW TO MAKE A DANDELION CHAIN

Lady Hayes May 9, 2015

Looking for something fun to do while hanging in the grasses with babies and friends? Here's a great thing to whip up with some lovely little weeds. I've always had a thing for Dandelions. Probably just my soft spot for the underdog. haha.

What you'll need | A comfy grassy spot with a good patch of Dandelions , maybe a couple of friends, and a few beers.

STEP 1

Grab 3 dandelions and braid the stems together (about half inch in length). Then grab another Dandelion and add it into the braid. Its basically a french braid but instead of hair you're using the stems of the Dandelions. Keep adding more and more Dandelions.  I like to add a bit of something else too to mix it up. Any greens and pretty little weed you can find close by will do just fine.

STEP 2

Once you have about 20 inches of chain, braid the end nice and tight (2 inches is a good amount to have). Then loop the end to the beginning. I find pulling apart the end of the braid and tying a knot around the beginning works just fine.

And thats really all there is to it my lovelies! Have fun and don't forget to hashtag your creations #ladyhayesdiy
